Geastrum nanum Pers. Zwerg-Erdstern Géastre nain. Fruit body opening to 2–3cm across, splitting into 5–8 pointed rays covered in a fleshy layer which cracks and flakes off. Spore sac on a short stalk, pallid to greyish, opening by a central pore surmounting a sharply pointed, brown beak-like mouth. Spores dark brown, globose, warted, 3.5–4um in diameter. Habitat in rich soil in deciduous woods. Season autumn. Rare. Not edible. Distribution, America and Europe.
